So keeping in mind that making the drive nice(scenic) is the number 1 goal, any suggestions for this drive would be appreciated. But option 2 goes through Las Vegas which doesn't seem like a great route compared to the other. I think route 1 is very optimistic with just 3 days, so perhaps the North Rim would have to be skipped and just drive through. Salt Lake down to Bryce and Zion, perhaps drive the Scenic Byway 12, then back to San Diego. Salt lake down to Arches, then Canyonlands, then down to the North Rim, then back to San Diego via Phoenix.Ģ. So looking at the map I see 2 routes that look feasible:ġ. George, Utah gets 10 inches of rain, on average, per year.San Diego, California gets 11.7 inches of rain, on average, per year. The US average is 38.1 inches of rain per year. George.San Diego averages 266 sunny days per year. Perhaps even spending a night in a park will be possible. On average, there are 255 sunny days per year in St. Obviously 3 days doesn't give sufficient time to explore any park in depth, but still I'd like to make the drive nice and at least stop by for a glimpse of the parks since we rarely get the chance to drive through the area.

We must be back by the evening of the 5th, so we effectively have 4 days/3 nts to get there and would like to make it a scenic drive and to see one or two of the parks in Utah that we have always wanted to see. Utah : Highwa圜 provides easy access to Utah road conditions, Utah highway conditions, Utah airport conditions and flight delays, and Utah weather.

I'd suggest that you plan your departure from St. Beautiful San Diego is known for scenic beaches and the most effortlessly perfect weather. I-84 west all the way to Boise.Įric P's plan is the exact same plan I would recommend. If you want to stay on the interstate, here's the route once you leave Las Vegas.
